Subscribe NowThe Indianapolis Public Library Foundation has named the winners of the 2017 Eugene & Marilyn Glick Indiana Authors Awards. The honors are given to authors who were either born in Indiana or have lived in the state for at least five years.
The winners were selected by a nine-member award panel.
Fort Wayne-native Kekla Magoon won the National Author Award and its $10,000 prize. The award is given to a writer with Indiana ties "but whose work is known and read throughout the country." Magoon will also designate a $2,500 grant to the public library of her choosing.
Lori Rader-Day, a native of Thorntown, won the Regional Author Award and a $7,500 prize. John David Anderson, a middle grade fiction author from Indianapolis, won the Genre Excellence Award and $6,000.
The panel also chose Francesca Zappia as the winner of the Emerging Author award and a $5,000 prize. The award is given to a writer who has published no more than two books during his or her lifetime, with the books being published within the past 10 years.
