Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett and Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness had already been announced as co-chairs of the task force. When the team was first announced, the mayors said they would bring in local tech, business and community leaders to develop the proposal highlighting central Indiana’s assets.
The other co-chairs of the Indy Metro Amazon HQ2 RFP task force include:
- Julie Bielawski, CEO of Knowledge Services
- Alonzo Weems, Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE: LLY)
- Marya Rose, Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI)
- Scott McCorkle, Executive Chairman of Torchlite Marketing, Executive Chairman of Fuzic, Executive in Residence of High Alpha
"Central Indiana has proven to be a great place for businesses to turn an idea into a reality, with access to talent and opportunity to thrive," Hogsett said in a news release. "By bringing together our region’s business, philanthropic and education leaders we can share a fully realized vision of our community’s assets as we put together this bid. This type of first-hand perspective will help to illustrate why metro Indy is a competitive location for businesses that prize innovation."
The RFP response effort is being coordinated by the Indy Chamber and Ginovus. The group says, since the announcement of the response, the co-chairs have been contacted by more than 600 people providing support.
Another Indiana community has also detailed its intention to make a bid for the Amazon headquarters. Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson has announced her plan to try and bring the facility to northwest Indiana.
