ITAMCO says the funding will help develop a secure, non-hackable messaging and transaction platform for the U.S. military.
The first phase of the project is expected to run about 10 months, during which ITAMCO will develop the cybersecurity architecture for a secure messaging application. The system will be based on the company’s Crypto-Chat application with additional blockchain technology.
"We are excited to work with DARPA to develop the latest in military-grade encryption software using blockchain technology, and look forward to offering an enterprise solution for secure messaging to industry," said Joel Neidig, director of research and development for ITAMCO.
ITAMCO says it plans to collaborate on Phase 1 of the project with researchers at the Center for Research Computing at the University of Notre Dame.
Once Phase 1 is complete, the company expects to move to Phase 2, which Neidig tells Inside INdiana Business could bring an additional $1 million in grand funding. Phase 2 will include the development, testing and evaluation of a working prototype of the application.
