The area, which will be known as the Old National Bank Plaza, will feature a pavilion, amphitheater and children’s play area.
The plaza will also feature a band shell, public docks and a tree canopy trail. It will be part of the first phase of the Riverfront project, construction for which is expected to begin in July and take 18 months to complete.
"Old National is excited to be a partner in this important Fort Wayne community project," said Dan Doan, region chief executive officer for Old National Bank. "Economic development is one of our Foundation’s funding priorities, and the Riverfront project aligns with our mission to help foster vibrant, sustainable communities."
The Fort Wayne City Council is expected to make a preliminary vote next week on more than $17 in construction contracts for the project’s first phase.
