The work involves rebuilding parts of U.S. 27 and U.S. 40 near the city’s downtown. The Indiana Department of Transportation awarded the construction contract to Carmel-based Gradex Inc.
INDOT says the work also includes new water mains, drainage and storm sewer modernization, sidewalks, signage and signals.
The first phase, which is expected to be complete in the fall, involves realigning part of U.S. 27, rebuilding part of S.R. 121 and U.S. 27. The second phase involves additional rebuilding of U.S. 27 and U.S. 40 and is slated to start late next month and wrap next summer.
