The $7.2 million project includes bridge deck replacement, rehabilitation and overlays for seven bridges across the two counties.
Indianapolis-based Milestone Contractors will begin the project this spring. Each part of the project will bring traffic restrictions to their respective areas, though specific details have yet to be released.
The project includes rebuilding twin Interstate 70 bridges over Six Mile Creek west of the Hancock-Henry county line, as well as the rehabilitation of two I-70 bridges over Brandywine Creek just east of State Road 9 in Hancock County
Crews will also work to repair and preserve two I-70 bridges over Montgomery Creek, east of SR 109 in Henry County. Finally, INDOT says Milestone will close the Hancock County Road 850 East bridge over I-70 to apply a modified concrete overlay to the bridge deck.
INDOT says the speed limit will be reduced to 55 miles per hour in the work zones and further reduced to 45 mph when workers are present and lights are flashing. The project is expected to be complete by November.
