Clark County Schools Honored For Career Training

The district began working with the philanthropic arm of the Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) last year. GCCS is the first community in the state to receive the designation. Twenty-one others throughout the country are part of the program, which is designed to bring school leaders, economic development and government officials and the business and nonprofit communities together to create a more engaging atmosphere for students.
The nonprofit is honoring the district for creating the Academies of Greater Clark, which are freshman academies focusing on college and career readiness. The model is patterned after a program launched previously by the Ford Motor Company Fund in schools in Nashville, Tennessee.
A news conference is set for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Charlestown High School.
