Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report response from the public has pushed Lake County-based White Lodging Services Corp. to plan for 4,000-8,000 more square-feet of conference facilities at the new hotel.
The Radisson closed on New Year’s Eve and will be replaced with an upscale hotel that could open in 2018. Director of Communications Kathleen Quilligan told The Times "we’ve decided to increase the size of the meeting space in the new hotel, to a total of between 16,000 and 20,000 total square feet of meeting space. This includes a 10,000 square foot ballroom that can accommodate 500-plus people." She added "since it opened, the Radisson was always a key hub in the community, and we want to continue and enhance that legacy with the new property."
In November, officials announced the Star Plaza Theatre, which is connected to the old hotel and was also initially slated for demolition, will be spared public feedback.
