Purdue Represented at New Robotics Institute

Subscribe NowResearchers from Purdue University are among a number of government, university and nonprofit representatives involved in establishing the Advanced Robotics Manufacturing Institute Hub, part of the U.S. Department of Defense’s Manufacturing USA. Eleven Purdue faculty members are part of the institute, which is located in Pittsburgh.
Purdue says the Arm Institute will conduct research and development as well as develop education and work force training, focusing on various industrial sectors, including aerospace, automotive, electronics and textiles. Richard Voyles, a professor at Purdue Polytechnic Institute will lead the collaborative robotics thrust within the institute.
"The college and our faculty are very excited to be part of this important institute in advanced robotics manufacturing," said Purdue Polytechnic Dean Gary Bertoline. "Under the leadership of Richard Voyles, Purdue University will have an important role in this institute that will advance robotics, which is one of the most important technological developments of this era."
Purdue is one of 40 academic institutions partnering with the more than $250 million institute. The Purdue researchers at the institute come not only from Purdue Polytechnic, but also the College of Engineering and the College of Science.
