The organization, which also has offices in West Lafayette and Columbus, says it will add up to 30 jobs at the new location in the Polk Building, the former city building in Greenwood.
Cornerstone says the new positions will include board certified behavior analysts, registered behavior technicians and administrative staff. The organization will occupy nearly 17,000 square feet of the 24,000 square-foot building.
"Since opening in 2010, we have expanded our current location twice to meet the growing needs of families and children who depend on our care," said Debbie Ide, founder of Cornerstone. "With an additional location, we are able to expand and specialize our services. We’ve seen a consistent and significant demand for these services in the Greenwood community."
Ide says the new location will include programming for older children and young adults with autism. She says the organization’s first Greenwood location will continue to serve as Cornerstone’s headquarters and as a primary location for younger children.
Indianapolis-based property management firm Randy Faulkner & Associates purchased the Polk Building from the city last month and plans to invest $700,000 for renovations over the next 18 months. The city will continue ownership of the south parking lot on the property.
"We knew with the right structure, the former city building could serve as a catalyst for furthering the growth and resurgence of downtown Greenwood," said Greenwood Mayor Mark Myers. "This couldn’t be a better fit. Cornerstone has quickly become a Greenwood fixture during its time here, and we look forward to the organization’s continued growth and success."
