The U.S. Department of Defense has awarded more than $70 million in contracts to various Indiana companies. Two out-of-state companies have also received contracts with some of the work being performed in Indiana.

Rolls-Royce Corp. in Indianapolis will receive $22.8 million to produce spare engines and engine modules for the U.S. Navy’s E-2D Advanced Hawkeye aircraft fleet. Production will take place in Indianapolis and is expected to be complete by next September. Rolls-Royce will also perform a portion of the work for Connecticut-based United Technologies Corp.’s (NYSE: UTX) $21 million contract boost, which calls for production of engines for the U.S. Marine Corps’ F-35B Lightening II aircraft.

Fort Wayne-based Petroleum Traders Corp. has been awarded a four-year, $37.2 million contract, which calls for the production of various types of fuel. Work will be performed in Indiana and nine other states and is expected to be complete by October 31, 2020. The Defense Logistics Agency Energy in Virginia is the contracting activity.

Indianapolis-based Allison Transmission inc. (NYSE: ALSN) has also been awarded a nearly $13 million boost to its contract for equipment used to produce transmissions for the U.S. Army’s Abrams tanks. Work will be performed in Indianapolis and is expected to be complete by April of 2019.

Virginia-based Science Applications International Corp. will receive a more than $30 million contract for the production of components for the Navy’s MK 48 Mod 7 torpedo. Nearly two-thirds of the work will be performed in Bedford, Indiana with a small portion being performed in Indianapolis. The Naval Sea Systems Command in Washington D.C. is the contracting activity.
