In a Facebook message, employees of the Dainty Maid Bake Shop say Friday will be the last day for the 88-year-old bakery.
Owner David Hab died last week. A memorial service is set for Friday at the New Apostolic Church in South Bend. Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and a service will start at 7:00 p.m.
The shop bills itself as downtown South Bend’s baked goods destination. One of the shop’s specialties is cakes. It’s been a mainstay in Michiana for weddings, birthdays and other special occasions since opening in 1928.
