Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business has named Deepender Hooda its Poling Chair of Business and Government for the upcoming academic year. He is a member of India’s parliament and will make periodic trips to IU’s Bloomington and Indianapolis campuses to interact with students and faculty.

The Poling Chair is charged with leading discussion in areas including leadership and interactions between private business and government on public policy and economic growth.

Hooda says he is "excited at the prospect" of returning to Bloomington after about 12 years. He earned his MBA from the Kelley School of Business.

Hooda was re-elected last year to India’s lower house of parliament for a third time. He leads the main opposition party in Lok Sabha, serving as the Indian National Congress’ party whip. He is also in charge of his party’s digital and social communications team. He plans his first visit to IU in his new role from November 12-18.
