Pig Producer Coming to Indiana

Subscribe NowA Nebraska-based swine producer is planning to invest $1.3 million into a 20-acre operation in Carroll County. Wiechman Pig Co., which has facilities in seven other states, plans to have 10 workers at the operation near Delphi within five years.
It will be the company’s first Indiana location.
Jeff Petree, who will be facility manager called Delphi a "good fit" because of its existing strength in swine production. “We will partner with local producers to market their pigs to markets throughout the U.S." He says the company’s decision to locate to Carroll County is two years in the making.
Carroll County Economic Development Corp. Executive Director Laura Walls says "Carroll County is the largest swine producing county in Indiana. We celebrate our robust pork tradition and welcome Wiechman Pig."
The company’s other locations are in Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa, Oklahoma, Illinois, South Dakota and Missouri.
It will be located near the Hoosier Heartland Highway, employ four workers to start and is expected to open in March.
