Two Indiana college athletes are among the top 30 vying for this year’s NCAA Woman of the Year award. Maggie MacPhail is a tennis player at DePauw University and Anna Murdock is on Franklin College’s track and field team.

MacPhail is from Indianapolis and graduated from Park Tudor High School. She is a biochemistry major and interned in the Indiana University School of Medicine Research in the Gastroenterology Department. MacPhail was also named top senior female athlete at DePauw.

Murdock went to Indian Creek in Trafalgar. The international business graduate at Franklin was Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Female Athlete of the Year for the 2014-15 athletic season. Director of Athletics Kerry Prather says "Anna embodied all that we would hope to see in a true student-athlete."

The selection committee will narrow the field to nine finalists, with the winner to be announced during an October 18th ceremony in Indianapolis. Selection Committee Chair Shantay Hill said "this year marks the 25th celebration of the Woman of the Year program, and these women continue the tradition of being the best and brightest in college sports. This year’s top 30 honorees are outstanding examples for women competing in sports at any level, and we are confident that they will continue to make a difference in the world for many years to come."

The top 30 was chosen from 480 nominees from throughout the nation.
