National Foundation Boosts Lake County Nonprofit

Subscribe NowThe JPMorgan Chase Foundation has donated $100,000 to a community transformation effort in Lake County. The funding for the Merrillville-based Legacy Foundation will support its Neighborhood Spotlight strategic grant-making program.
The Indiana Association for Community Economic Development received the grant commitment from the JPMorgan Chase Foundation. The organization says it provides "program design assistance, coaching, and capacity building for formal and informal leaders and organizations engaged in community transformation."
Legacy Foundation Chief Executive Officer Carolyn Saxton says "Neighborhood Spotlight combines leadership from the public, private and not-for-profit sectors with engagement of residents from selected neighborhoods. Our goal is to give residents a voice in creating a plan to strengthen the neighborhoods where they live, work and play." The IACED says the initiative focuses on goals including common agenda, mutually reinforcing strategies and continuous communication.
