The University of Indianapolis is partnering with Community Health Network to establish an on-campus facility where students can gain clinical experience. The school says the collaboration is central to its new $30 million health pavilion, which is set to open in August. UIndy says students and faculty will be able to work alongside health professionals and bring important services to underserved parts of the city.

The health provider will operate more than 10,000 square feet of the first floor of the health pavilion as a department of Community Hospital South. The space will include private treatment rooms and a physical therapy and rehab center.

The university says the comprehensive partnership includes sports medicine, physical therapy, nursing education, clinical internships, research and employer health. Community Health plans to increase the number of internships and clinical and field experiences throughout the five-year lease agreement.

University of Indianapolis officials held a topping out ceremony late last year for the pavilion. It will house several academic programs and wellness services. The project is part of a larger $50 million campus redevelopment effort.
