Carmel-based Mainstreet has begun construction on a nearly $19 million senior care community in Porter County. Once complete, Illinois-based Symphony Post Acute Network will operate the Symphony of Chesterton. May 20, 2015

News Release

CHESTERTON, Ind. – Construction on northwest Indiana's latest Medical Resort development is now underway. Mainstreet and Symphony Post Acute Network broke ground today on their latest partnership together, the Symphony of Chesterton.

The property, located at 2775 Village Pt. in Chesterton, boasts 106 beds, 76,701 square feet and will provide post-acute care (short-stay rehabilitation and therapy) and senior living in a service-rich environment. Mainstreet is developing the Symphony of Chesterton and a Symphony Post Acute Network will operate it.

“Symphony of Chesterton looks forward to serving the Chesterton community and working in concert with the local hospitals and physicians to provide the residents of Chesterton with an exceptional level of nursing and rehabilitative services,” said Mike Munter, chief operating officer of Symphony Post Acute Network.

The project, which represents a total community investment of $18.8 million, is expected to bring approximately 360 construction jobs and 150 permanent jobs at the property itself. Construction should be complete by December 2015.

“With the opening of Symphony of Chesterton, the new approach to dynamic, individual care continues with the construction of this state-of-the-art facility,” said C. Bernard Doyle, town manager of Chesterton. “Separate from the level of care and facility, the construction further assists Chesterton in continuing its momentum with progressive bio/med economic development which we are becoming known for. I am honored to be a small part of the team process that has brought Symphony of Chesterton to town, and to officially welcome them to the expanding Chesterton family.”

As a Medical Resort, the Symphony of Chesterton will offer hospitality-oriented care with amenities such as a large therapy gym, an outdoor rehabilitation courtyard, movie theatre, game room, a spa, an on-site chef and more.

“We are transforming the health care industry across the country with our focus on innovative designs and hospitality-oriented care, catering to the lifestyle and desires of today's baby boomer,” said Zeke Turner, founder and CEO of Mainstreet. “Symphony of Chesterton is ultimately designed to get people well and get them home – where they want to be.”
