WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Today, the Physical Facilities Committee of the Purdue University Board of Trustees will review the Project Development Agreement (PDA) for the State Street Redevelopment Project, and the Trustees will vote on it at the Stated Meeting tomorrow, May 15.
On May 19, in two separate meetings, the West Lafayette City Council and the Purdue Research Foundation Executive Committee will also review and vote on the PDA. Additionally, the West Lafayette Redevelopment Commission will meet to review and vote on the PDA on May 20. If the PDA is approved by all parties, it will officially unite the City of West Lafayette and Purdue University as partners in the venture.
The PDA outlines the expectations and responsibilities of both the City of West Lafayette and Purdue University as they partner together to complete the project. This agreement covers such important topics as cost-sharing, funding, project management and oversight, and the procurement process. Under the agreement, the Joint Board established under the 2014 interlocal agreement between the university and the City of West Lafayette will be charged with overseeing the delivery of the project.
West Lafayette Mayor John Dennis said the collaborative community project is a “game changer” for the downtown, Purdue and surrounding areas.
“We are eagerly anticipating support of the project, so we can begin the transformation of State Street into a place that reflects the vibrant spirit and personality of our community,” he said.
If the PDA is approved by all parties, the next step in the State Street Redevelopment Project will be for the Joint Board to release a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to firms interested in submitting proposals for the project. The RFQ is expected to be issued on May 21.
