Indianapolis, Ind. — Social entrepreneurs and anyone interested in impact investing or socially responsible investing are invited to attend the 2015 Petticrew Faith-in-Action Program at Christian Theological Seminary (CTS) on May 5. The program promises a lively discussion on how to reconnect our economic lives, our social lives and our spiritual lives.
A morning seminar followed by a luncheon will focus on “Innovation, Financial Systems and the Common Good: Groundbreaking Examples from Place-based Investing, Gender-based Investing and Congregations as Economic Agents.” Speakers include:
Katherine Collins, founder of Honeybee Capital and author of The Nature of Investing: Resilient Investment Strategies through Biomimicry
John Mutz, former Lieutenant Governor of Indiana and former CEO of PSI Energy
Joy Anderson, founder and President of Criterion Institute
CTS President Matthew Myer Boulton
The morning seminar will include roundtable conversations to root these ideas in local contexts, and Collins’ luncheon remarks will be followed by responses from the other speakers.
The event is Tuesday, May 5, from 9:00 to 1:30 at CTS. Cost for the morning program and the luncheon is $40, $30 for retirees, and free to students. Tables of eight are $300. To register, click here.
The Petticrew Faith-in-Action program, now in its 29th year, is a testament to the generosity and humanity of Dick Petticrew and his wife of 69 years, Sylvia “Sally” Eunice MacDermid Petticrew.
C. Richard “Dick” Petticrew was a faithful Presbyterian and a successful business, political, religious, community and philanthropic leader. Because he wanted to help clergy and businesspeople better understand each other, he established the Petticrew Faith-in-Action Seminar in 1986 through a generous gift to Christian Theological Seminary. The aim of the program is to help church and civic leaders attain an informed and balanced perspective on some of the most pressing ethical and moral issues affecting American society. Past keynote speakers have included Richard Lugar, John Lechleiter, William Placher, James Morris, Stephen Carter, Ben Carson, William Hudnut, John Polkinghorne, J. Irwin Miller, Odell Owens, Marvin Olasky, Jim Wall, Clarence Glover, William Miller, Robert Bellah, Randall Tobias, William Enright, John Mutz, Max Stackhouse, and Mitch Daniels, among many others. In keeping with the Petticrew Faith-in-Action tradition, discussion of a wide range of views, as well as mutual respect, are encouraged for the sake of greater understanding and the common good.
