Indiana legislators decided the fate of several high-profile bills ahead of Wednesday night's deadline. Lawmakers passed measures allowing the State Board of Education to elect its own chair and moving riverboat casinos inland. The State Board of Education bill calls for the board to elect its own chair beginning in 2017, when State Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz's first term is over.

Indy Eleven President Peter Wilt had said the Carroll Stadium renovation would get the team up to “first division standards.” A previous version of the bill would have helped pay for a new, $82 million multi-use stadium that would be the primary home of the Indy Eleven and a possible women's professional soccer team.
