News Release
ZIONSVILLE, Ind. – Adam Moody, owner of Moody’s Butcher Shop, announced today that he has entered into a partnership with Rick Montieth, owner of Georgetown Market. The two have begun construction on a full grocery market that will encompass the traditions and essence of both businesses. The store will be called Moody’s Market and will expand the footprint of the existing Moody’s Butcher Shop in downtown Zionsville. Moody’s Market is committed to providing local products and a sustainable locally-sourced food supply. Moody’s Market is a local food market and butcher shop focused on fresh, local produce and high quality, fresh meats from local farms and other food purveyors from the Central Indiana area. The new grocery market is set to open Mid-May, 2015.
Zionsville is known for its vibrant and historic downtown community that exudes an old-fashioned eclectic charm. Though the downtown village area consists of diverse boutiques, traditional mom-and-pop shops, and a variety of restaurants, no grocery options exists for residents in the downtown village. According to a survey completed for the Town of Zionsville in 2014 by Business Districts, Inc, over 50% of the 901 respondents indicated they would spend more on specialty food products if they were offered in downtown Zionsville. The collaboration between these two entrepreneurs will serve to provide customers with a new grocery experience that research indicates they desire. The relationship between the two companies combines a shared passion for local foods, healthy grocery options, and a tradition of caring for the land and producing quality food for the local community.
Moody’s Butcher Shop is a family owned butcher shop that offers local, farm-raised meats from their own family farm and other farms around Central Indiana. Meats are processed in the Moody’s own facility in Ladoga, IN. The small business grew from farmers markets to operating five local butcher shops around Indianapolis over the past 15 years and continues to grow with the new partnership.
Georgetown Market is also a family owned business that provides a different market experience to their customers. Rick Montieth and his sons pride themselves in offering natural and pure products in their West-side grocery store, helping their customers to eat better, live well and feel their best.
Moody’s Market will serve as a true mixture of both Moody’s Butcher Shop and Georgetown Market, providing customers with a unique, full service grocery experience centered around a full-service meat department, locally-grown produce, and a selection of staple grocery items sourced as locally as possible. Moody’s Market is scheduled to open Mid-May, 2015.
