An Indianapolis-based web marketing company is accepting applications for its third round of “Nice Grants.” SmallBox is partnering with DeveloperTown on the microgrant program.

March 18, 2015

News Release

Indianapolis, Ind. — Nice Grants returns for its third year, promising $10,000 in microgrants for projects that will have a positive impact on Indianapolis. SmallBox, a creative agency, started the Nice Grants program in 2013 with an initial investment of five grants at $1,000 each.

This year, DeveloperTown, a web and mobile products-focused company, has joined forces with SmallBox to double the available grants to ten, for a total of $10,000.

“We believe that people like SmallBox and projects like Nice Grants are what makes

Indianapolis so unique. It's a privilege to help out and we can't wait to see the

submissions.” -Michael Cloran, Managing Partner, DeveloperTown

These grants are intended to help people make great ideas happen. Nice Grants are different than a traditional grant, as recipients need not be a nonprofit. Organizations with or without tax-exempt status, and creatives, entrepreneurs and community builders alike are encouraged to apply. SmallBox does follow up with the grant recipients, sharing stories of how the funds are used on www.nicegrants.org . There are no further requirements or stipulations.

Examples of what past Nice Grants have helped accomplish:

–Brought a youth biking program up to speed

–Laid the foundation for some fresh beehives

–Let young readers choose their own (reading) adventures

The concept of Nice Grants originated when SmallBox employees earned a $5,000 bonus for surpassing revenue goals. Instead of dividing the funds amongst employees, the team chose to invest the bonus into the community, and “SmallBox funds for big ideas” was born.

Applicants with ideas for projects that would have a positive impact on the Indianapolis community are invited to submit their Nice Grant idea by visiting www.nicegrants.org/apply.

Submissions are due by noon Friday, April 17, with winners being announced on Friday, May 1.
