The executive director of the Indiana Golf Association says the state is dealing with a “serious supply and demand problem.” Mike David says, in the 1990s, golf courses were being built at a much faster rate than the game grew, and the state is “still paying for it today.” He says the organization's First Tee youth development program can help address the issue by introducing more kids to the game of golf. David discussed the state of the game and events coming to Indiana on a special edition of Inside INdiana Business Television. The Indiana Golf Association says the state will host more than 70 junior events and around 50 pro and amateur events this season.

David says the Warren Golf Course in South Bend could be in line to host a U.S. Senior Open Championship. Blackthorn Golf Club in the St. Joseph County city will host a Symetra Tour-Road to the LPGA golf tournament in June. The French Lick Resord will host the 2015 Senior PGA Championship.

The PGA's 2016 BMW Championship is set to be held at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel. In 2012, the tournament attracted 140,000 attendees. Hamilton County Tourism Inc. says it generated $30 million for the area economy.
