The National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) has selected Indianapolis, Indiana as the site of its 2017 summer conference. NASS summer meetings bring together government and industry leaders to showcase Secretary of State initiatives and highlight the latest developments in state policymaking and programming.
“We are very excited to announce that the National Association of Secretaries of State will be meeting in Indianapolis for the NASS 2017 Summer Conference,” stated NASS President Elaine Marshall, who serves as North Carolina Secretary of State. “Members continue to rely on NASS as an important vehicle for sharing information, success stories and state policy solutions, and meeting attendance is at an all-time high. Simply stated: We're revving our engines for Indy.”
NASS members unanimously voted to award host city honors to Indianapolis on February 13, during the organization's winter meeting in Washington, DC. Indiana Secretary of State Connie Lawson, who serves as Midwestern Region Vice President on the NASS Executive Board, will be national meeting host secretary.
“We are honored to host NASS in Indianapolis. I look forward to showing off our great city and state and to introducing NASS and its members to our Hoosier hospitality,” said Lawson. “This conference will also be a great opportunity for my colleagues and I to work together to improve the services we provide to people across the nation.”
The agenda for the four-day summer meeting typically focuses on election administration, business registration and licensing issues, digital recordkeeping, state historical preservation efforts and other issues and programs of mutual interest to state members.
With Indiana’s bid to host the national meeting now confirmed, dates and event location for the NASS 2017 summer conference will be determined in the coming months.
