Airport Details New Nonstop to Major Market

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Indianapolis Airport Authority (IAA) is pleased to announce today that Southwest Airlines is extending its flight schedule to add new, nonstop service to Dallas. Starting in April, Southwest will launch new daily service between Indianapolis International Airport (IND) and Dallas Love Field (DAL).
“This new nonstop service to Dallas once again expands our flight service into key markets for our airport,” said Michael Wells, president of the IAA board of directors. “It's our mission at IND to provide the best, most convenient service to our travelers and, by adding new nonstop flights, we're not only enhancing competition but also raising the level of air service we provide at IND.”
IAA Executive Director Mario Rodriguez says the Southwest expansion reflects well on Indianapolis. “Southwest has been a valued partner of IND's for 25 years now, and its move to create new service is a reflection of the strength and vitality of the Indy community,” he said. “We are happy to see Southwest's continual growth in the destinations it serves. IND had an exceptional year in 2014, and we have big plans to keep the momentum going in 2015 with even more announcements to come as we continue to work to provide reliable and convenient air travel for our community.”
With this announcement, Southwest will now serve 15 of IND's top 20 passenger markets and increase its current position as IND's top airline for available seat capacity based on 2015 scheduled service. In 2015, Southwest will also become IND's top airline for departures. New service to DAL will increase its average number of IND departures to 34 per day. IND averages 301 passengers per day flying to Dallas, IND's eighth largest destination market. In addition to new service to Dallas, travelers can look forward to Southwest's launch of new service to Boston and Los Angeles in June.
“This new route is great for both Dallas and Indianapolis travelers as it connects two major business centers. The new flight complements our existing routes to other prime business markets and leisure destinations,” said Katherine Findlay, vice president of Internal Audit at Southwest Airlines.
