The Grant County Economic Growth Council says it will host an economic development workshop next week. The “Small Town Success Stories” event will focus on local investment in small towns.

February 10, 2015

News Release

MARION, Ind. – “Is our community ready for investment? What steps can we take to strengthen our development preparedness? Why would anyone want to invest or start a business in this small town?” These, and similar economic development questions, have been posed by local elected officials over the last several months at Local Elected Official (LEO) Dinners; LEO Dinners are held in Grant County quarterly by the Grant County Economic Growth Council for the purpose of facilitating ongoing discussion and the sharing of ideas. In an effort to address the subjects of community preparedness and local investment, the Growth Council will be hosting Small Town Success Stories.

Local elected officials, business leaders, and community members in Grant County and surrounding areas are invited to attend and participate in the upcoming event. On February 19, 2015, a series of speakers that represents the full spectrum of the investment process will cater their message around the name of the event, Small Town Success Stories. The goal of the working dinner is to show how local investment is happening, even in the smallest of towns.

The Grant County Economic Growth Council has partnered with Strategic Development Group, Inc., a consulting firm that specializes in economic development and downtown revitalization planning, to offer the Small Town Success Stories working dinner for Grant County and surrounding communities. Thayr Richey of Strategic Development Group describes Small Town Success Stories as “a workshop that will invigorate and inspire the smaller towns in and around Grant County to take steps toward local investment.”

The mission of the Grant County Economic Growth Council is “to facilitate investment and reinvestment through job creation and retention.” One vehicle used to achieve economic development by the Growth Council is fostering an environment collaboration. Executive Director Tim Eckerle explains, “Small Town Success Stories will be an enriching workshop that primes Grant County for investment and development through stories of success and through expert strategies.”
