A Medicare enrollment platform operator is expanding in Bloomington. Bloom announced this week that is will establish its new Network Operations Center inside The Forge, the $13 million, tech-centered office space that opened last year in the city’s Trades District.
Founded in 2007, Bloom has developed a technology platform designed to help Medicare agents and brokers provide better options for beneficiaries.
The company, which is headquartered at 1801 Liberty Drive in Bloomington, said in a news release that the new location at The Forge will serve as a hub for technology development, regulatory engagement, and investor relations.
“Bloom is excited to deepen our commitment to Bloomington and position ourselves at the forefront of innovation,” Chief of Staff Kevin Todd said. “The Trades District offers not just office space, but a strategic advantage—access to top-tier talent, Indiana University researchers, a culture of collaboration, and a home in the city’s most exciting business district.”
In a statement to Inside INdiana Business, CEO Sherman Rogers said Bloom employs about 1,000 people and is in the midst of a “heavy technology investment cycle” that will include additional hiring through 2026. However, it was not clear how many jobs would be added for the new location at The Forge.
“Bloom is opening a dedicated technology Command Center for its suite of health care technologies and services,” Rogers said. “It will be the national resource for both Bloom and our clients and is one piece of our investment into AI based technologies focused on member experience and cost efficiency.”
Bloom declined to disclose its financial investment in the Forge space, but said it signed a five-year lease.
The Forge opened in November to serve as a place for tech startups as well as a coworking space for remote workers. Development of the building—and the Trades District as a whole—was led by The Mill, a nonprofit business accelerator in Bloomington.
Bloom joins other tech-based companies Folia and Vivum AI as the first tenants at The Forge.
