“To Whom it May Concern:
It's with heavy hearts that the current Board of Directors of Go Angola Downtown Alliance announces that we will be disbanding as of December 31, 2014.
While we have enjoyed supporting the City of Angola and sponsoring various events such as Autumn in Angola and the Christmas wagon rides, we have struggled with a lack of volunteers and people willing to be Board members. Our recent meeting produced two people expressing interest in serving as Board members, but still not enough to meet the five required by our by-laws.
We wish to thank all of the businesses and individuals who have graciously sponsored our events over the past five years, either through monetary donations or through the use of their locations and/or personnel. We would also like to thank our local news media for keeping our events in the public eye. A special thank you to June Julien of the Tourism Bureau and her staff for the tremendous amount of advice and advertising support they've extended us.
The funds we still have will be used for a bench in memory of Melody Willibey, a co-founder of Go Angola and who served as Vice President until her death. The bench will be placed under the overhang at Then & Now Antiques. Any funds received from the sale of our leftover mugs, shot glasses and koozies will be donated to the Steuben County Humane Society.
As for our events, we hope that the new Main Street organization will be interested in continuing them. We would like to be considered by Mayor Hickman as members of the Events arm of the new organization and look forward to working with Main Street Coordinator Maria Davis.
Sincerely,
Lee Ann Snyder, President
Jorge Ruiz, Vice President
Tracie Tatro, Secretary
Kim Bordner, Treasurer”
