Chicago-based RR Donnelly is planning to close its facility at the Freeman Field Industrial Park in Seymour this spring. In a notice to the state, the marketing, packaging, print and supply chain services provider said the move will result in the layoffs of 96 employees.
The plant at 709 A Avenue East is a full-service web printer of high impact visual communications solutions, including direct mail packages, personalized and trackable coupons, direct marketing components, and magazine insertions, according to the company’s website.
RR Donnelly did not provide a reason for the closure. Multiple requests for more information from Inside INdiana Business were not returned.
According to the WARN Notice filed with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, the company plans to lay off the employees on May 3. The layoffs are expected to be permanent, and the affected workers are not represented by a union.
RR Donnelly said the workers will not receive separation benefits.
The Tribune in Seymour reported in 2022 that the Seymour City Council approved a $654,000 tax abatement for the purchase of new manufacturing and IT equipment. The company said at the time that it had 111 employees.
