State to Swear in New Legislators

Subscribe NowNew state representatives will be sworn in today to replace two legislators that resigned their seats after winning re-election. Donna Schaibley and Tony Cook have been selected by local precinct committees to succeed Steve Braun (R-24) and Eric Turner (R-32), respectively. Braun was named commissioner of the Indiana Department of Workforce Development in August by Governor Mike Pence.
Turner will join a Georgia-based Christian organization. He left after a committee cleared him of any wrong-doing in an ethics investigation relating to his role in ending a proposed moratorium on nursing home construction. Turner is part owner of Carmel-based senior care developer Mainstreet.
