The Connersville News-Examiner reports Fayette County commissioners have approved three contracts with Florida-based NextEra Energy Resources LLC involving the proposed Whitewater Wind Farm. The proposed project would stretch into parts of Fayette, Rush and Henry counties.
Fayette County commissioners will now consider 10-year tax abatement on the Whitewater Wind Farm.
As part of the deal, the publication reports Fayette County would receive more than $2 million in cash from NextEra during the first seven years of the abatement.
It will include nearly four dozen turbines in two townships and is expected to produce 86 megawatts of power.
