The mayor of Jeffersonville is continuing the push for a “gateway” project in the city. Mike Moore released a video detailing the potential benefits of the proposed $24 million development from a private investor. Plans call for new hotels and restaurants on the city-owned property located at one of Jeffersonville's busiest intersections and a primary entry point. The plan has received opposition from several members of city council, who suggest some prospective tenants would add too much traffic. He believes the project would bring $1 million per year in added tax revenue and the business from the hotel alone would have a $70 million economic impact.

The News and Tribune reported in July, one member of council, Ed Zastawny, also wanted to see a higher-end hotel tenant on the property.

In July, a rezoning request was denied by city council, forcing some changes to the original plans laid out by Kentucky-based White Reach Development LLC.

Potential tenants that have been floated by the developer throughout the process include Zaxby's, Panera, Cracker Barrel, McDonald's and as many as three hotels.
