News Release

Elkhart, Ind. — Beginning on Monday, September 22, the Greater Elkhart Chamber of Commerce will begin a week long strategy session to determine its key areas of focus and tactics to serve the community and businesses from 2015 to 2020.

“Our Chamber has been a strong voice for business for 85 years,” says Greater Elkhart Chamber of Commerce President Kyle Hannon. “At the same time, we also need to be looking ahead. Our board members are very interested in 'where do we go from here.' We're really looking forward to developing our strategic plan for the next five years.”

The Chamber hosts many programs to help local companies grow. In recent years the focus has been on assisting with regulatory issues and advocacy for good infrastructure and a healthy business climate. The Greater Elkhart Chamber is a founding member of the US 31 coalition and pushed for right to work legislation. The new strategic plan will help focus advocacy efforts for the future.

Finding the right facilitator, who is qualified to work with chamber organizations, was vital to the Chamber's Board of Directors for the strategy development process. Patrick McGaughey, a Chamber Institute instructor, will be speaking with different focus groups and various community leaders.
