GARY, Ind. – Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann and Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson will oversee the first demolition of a blighted property in Gary, Indiana, funded through the Hardest Hit Fund Blight Elimination Program.

WHY: Indiana’s Hardest Hit Fund Blight Elimination Program is a partnership between the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) and the U.S. Treasury. The Blight Elimination Program allows IHCDA to provide funding to local units of government to eliminate blighted properties to make space for a variety of end uses on the newly cleared parcels, such as green space or redevelopment.
