A popular burger restaurant is looking to expand into Fishers next year. Bub's Burgers and Ice Cream is planning to invest more than $1 million to open a restaurant in the town's Nickel Plate District. The Fishers Town Council will consider incentives for the project next week.

Fishers, Ind. — On Monday, Sept. 15, the Fishers Town Council will consider waiving development impact fees related to the development of a new Bub's Burgers and Ice Cream, paving the way for the local eatery's new location in the Nickel Plate District in downtown Fishers. The targeted grand opening is mid-2015.

“Our residents have expressed a desire for local, non-chain food options,” said Town Manager Scott Fadness. “Fishers is excited to be chosen as the next location for the entrepreneurial, Indiana-grown restaurant. Their family-friendly business model fits perfectly with the values of our Fishers residents.”

Bub's Burgers and Ice Cream plans to build what will be their fourth restaurant near the new intersection of Fishers Corner Blvd and Maple Street. The $1.25 million investment includes a new 5,000 square foot building and equipment, as well as more than 125 employees. Construction is expected to begin late this year with an expected opening date in mid-2015.

“Rachel and I are very excited about the opportunity to work with the Town and to expand our concept into Fishers,” said Bub's owner Matt Frey. “This is something we have been planning for years and we are very appreciative of the excitement and willingness of Scott Fadness and his team to make this a reality. The economic development agreement is limited to the waiver of impact fees for the project and is an estimated $122,000 incentive. The Fishers Town Council will vote on the economic development agreement at Monday's Town Council meeting at 7 p.m.
