Visit South Bend Mishawaka says two baseball tournaments this week will have a more than half-million dollar economic impact. The youth baseball events start July 23 and are expected to attract more than 75 teams. July 22, 2014

South Bend, Ind. — Elite Baseball and Pastime Tournaments will both be holding competitions in the South Bend Mishawaka area this week. The 15U World Series event, hosted by Elite Baseball, will be held July 22 – 27 at Four Winds Field. The Pastime Tournaments 17U National Championship will be utilizing high school, university and community diamonds across the area July 23 – 27.

“We are excited that Four Winds Field will play host again for the World Series, and we hope that the South Bend community will continue to embrace and support this tournament for many more years to come,” says Brian Blondell, president of Elite Baseball Tournaments.

The tournaments will be utilizing a combined 1,700-plus room nights with area hotels, and are anticipated to have a combined economic impact of roughly $545,332.

“The 17U National Championships is one of our most competitive events of the year,” states Tom Davidson, president of Pastime Tournaments. “Teams coming from 8-plus states and several provinces in Canada results in a very diverse and competitive event.”

Roughly 36 teams will be competing in the Elite Baseball World Series, while 40 teams will take part in the Pastime Tournaments National Championship. Teams for both competitions will be traveling from all over the Midwest, and some will be coming from as far as the East Coast and Canada.
