A more than $1.5 million relocation project in Indianapolis is moving forward. The city's metropolitan development commission has granted preliminary tax abatement approval to Ohio-based Messer Construction & Co., which plans to add about two dozen jobs. July 2, 2014

Indianapolis, Ind. — The Metropolitan Development Commission has given round one approval to a tax abatement request from Ohio-based Messer Construction & Co.

Messer told the city it would like to relocate its office in Indianapolis and would retain 80 workers and create about two dozen jobs.

The company says the jobs pay an average of about $21 per hour.

The commission will consider final approval of the request July 16.

If everything works out, Messer hopes to move in January to a long-vacated property at 2441-45 N. Meridian Street, adjacent to Ivy Tech and Fall Creek Place.
