More than 40 community organizations have received support through recent gifts from Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana Inc. The Princeton-based company says $100,000 in donations are part of ongoing outreach efforts in southern Indiana, Kentucky and Illinois. June 30, 2014

News Release

PRINCETON, Ind. (June 27, 2014) – Giving back comes in many forms. Since 1997, Toyota has given over $20 million to various community organizations and its team members volunteer on average more than 25,000 hours each year.

Toyota Indiana recently donated $100,000 to 43 nonprofit organizations in the Tri-State, including the Girl Scouts of Southwest Indiana Get Moving Summer Outreach program. This summer program is designed to focus on reducing our carbon footprint and learning about the impact on the environment through everyday activities.

“This program is a perfect fit for Toyota because not only does it help educate our youth but it continues to raise environmental awareness, an initiative very important to Toyota,” said Natalie Wilkinson, Weld Production manager and Girls Scouts board member. “I believe that programs like this help ensure our youth, the leaders of tomorrow, succeed.”

In addition to financially supporting environmental education programs, a group of 20-25 Toyota team members and their family members will pick up trash along the two-mile stretch in front of the Princeton plant. The event is one of nearly a dozen volunteer events that the company supports each year. Team members also volunteer on their own time and are rewarded by the company for their efforts in the community.

“Our team members take pride in their work and they make sure the plant and surrounding areas look good,” said Plant Engineering and Environmental manager, John Stevens. “Although we're usually only out there cleaning up for a few hours, the team members work hard and make a significant impact to clean up our environment.”

Part of the company's mission is to give back to the communities where team members live and work with focus on youth and education, environment and health and safety.
