Plymouth leaders have officially opened an approximately $3 million downtown park. The city also unveiled a new logo and tagline as part of a rebranding campaign.

News Release

Plymouth, Ind. — Saturday, the City of Plymouth celebrated the grand opening of its new downtown park, River Park Square, and also unveiled its new logo and branding campaign.

Hundreds were on hand for the park's ribbon cutting ceremony this past weekend, including U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly. River Park Square is a long-planned redevelopment of part of the Yellow River flood plain, immediately east of the city's downtown. The project includes a permanent home for the Plymouth Farmers Market, a group 40-50 vendors strong, now in its tenth year. The approximately $3 million investment also includes a fountain, a splash pad, a pergola, bathroom/concession facilities, a multi-purpose performance structure, a Christmas tree plaza, improved streetscaping, and careful preservation of the city’s historic magnolia tree.

Mayor Mark Senter thanked the Plymouth Redevelopment Commission, other city officials, community leaders and volunteers, whose hard work and support helped make the park a reality. “River Park Square is a gem in our downtown and will surely be a source of recreation and economic development for years to come,” the Mayor said. Plans for a second phase of the park, including a veterans memorial plaza, are in store for future construction. Through an INDOT grant, in 2016, Plymouth will expand its Greenways Trail with the addition of a new pedestrian river bridge connecting River Park Square to the city’s other parks.

Following the ribbon cutting, the crowd witnessed the unveiling of the city's new logo. Led by the agencies, Heiden Creative . . . and Company and Insight Strategic Concepts, Inc., over the past five months, a group of city representatives and local volunteers worked to develop the logo. The group engaged over fifty members of the community through a series of focus groups, identifying Plymouth’s core values and message to be conveyed in the logo.

“Now we have a new logo to promote our community. It has been a rewarding process and I truly appreciate everyone's involvement,” said Mayor Senter. “The tagline 'Where community and possibility connect' says a lot. From the people gathered today at this park, to the possibilities of the Metronet fiber-optic communications project, we now have under construction, great things are coming together in Plymouth,” the Mayor also stated.
