INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Charter School Board will convene to vote on final approval for the establishment of Francis Marion Academy and Indianapolis Lighthouse College Prep Academy East.

Details:
Francis Marion Academy: This school’s mission is to serve students inside the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center and establish a second location outside of the Juvenile Detention Center to continue serving those students and other at-risk young people. The school plans to work collaboratively with the juvenile justice system to ensure that students who have been involved in the juvenile system or are at a high risk of being expelled are given the opportunity to redefine themselves and their life choices to become positive, contributing members of the community with a realistic pathway towards an economically self-sufficient life after high school.
Indianapolis Lighthouse East: This school plans to replicate its existing middle and high school program located on the city’s southeast side to a facility located at 4002 N. Franklin Road. Results at the existing school include End of Course Assessment proficiency rates, graduation rates, and college acceptance rates that significantly outpace the results at comparable schooling options.Source: Office of the Indianapolis Mayor
