FRANKFORT, Ind. – Seventy community, government and education leaders from the City of Frankfort and Clinton County will meet on Monday, April 14 for Mayor Chris McBarnes' fourth Leadership Summit, with this year's event featuring former U.S. Senator Richard Lugar.
“A key piece of our Communications cornerstone, these Summits have proven to be effective annual events for those in positions of government, community and educational leadership to come together to further enhance our relationships with each other while learning more about leadership and communications for the benefit of our respective groups and especially for the good of the various constituents we serve.
“This year, we are especially pleased to have former U.S. Senator Richard Lugar as our featured speaker. His more than three decades of public service at the national level, experience with significant international issues and strong leadership at the local level as mayor of Indianapolis and serving on the school board for Indianapolis Public Schools’ is unparalleled.
“We are honored to have Senator Lugar as our Summit speaker and look forward to learning a great deal from his experiences at all levels of public service,” McBarnes said.
While the April 14 invitation-only event is community leader-focused, the event will be recorded and posted on the City Web site (www.frankfort-in.gov) by noon on Tuesday, April 15 for interested residents.
Those invited to the Summit include Clinton County Council; Commissioners; County Circuit Court Judge; Sheriff; Planner; Surveyor; Treasurer; Auditor; Coroner; Emergency Management Agency Director; Chamber Executive Director; Community Foundation President; Purdue Extension Educator; area school superintendents; school board members; City of Frankfort Clerk-Treasurer; City Council; Board of Works; presidents of the Plan Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals and Redevelopment Commission; Utility Service Board and Utility representatives; Main Street President; City Attorney; Fire Chief; Police Chief; Street Superintendent; Building Inspector; Parks Superintendent and a representative from the Department of Homeland Security.
“The challenge of building strong relationships that lead to positive partnerships is an ongoing one for anyone in public service. Opportunities for area leaders to be with each other, spend time and learn together can go a long way in building familiarity and trust.
“These Leadership Summits are designed to help all of us do just that. From the beginning of these events two years ago, my long-term goal has been that effective and efficient communications and leadership come to the forefront of all of our minds as we perform our duties for the individuals, families, businesses and groups we serve in Clinton County and Frankfort,” McBarnes explained.
