A Jeffersonville-based training systems provider wants to add 30 jobs and expand its product lines. Amatrol Inc. is seeking tax abatement on a $3.5 million plan that would double its current manufacturing space. The abatement request now heads to the city council after receiving approval yesterday from the redevelopment council. February 26, 2014

News Release

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. – One Southern Indiana (1si) and the City of Jeffersonville today announced Amatrol Inc.'s intention to expand their existing manufacturing facility. Through the coordination of 1si, Amatrol officials will appear before the Jeffersonville Redevelopment Commission tonight in Jeffersonville City Hall, which will determine their eligibility to request local tax incentives at a City Council meeting on March 3, 2014.

Upon the approval of tax abatement by the Jeffersonville City Council, Amatrol will invest $2,200,000 to add an additional 39,000-square feet to their current manufacturing facility plus a personal property investment of $1,335,000 and $210,000 in other investment. This expansion will double their manufacturing space and is needed to accommodate the company's rapid growth due to the development of new product lines including products for the green energy field and mechatronics.

“We've had significant growth in sales overseas and more specifically for green energy products and mechatronics,” said Paul Perkins, President of Amatrol, Inc. “Many of our international clients have encouraged us to work with their colleagues in economic development to provide an in-country solution. However, Southern Indiana and more specifically, the City of Jeffersonville is our home. We'd prefer to expend the capital and add jobs locally.”

In addition to the capital investment, this project will add more than $1,372,800 annual payroll, adding 30 new jobs over a period of five years with an average starting wage of $22.00 per hour.

Amatrol creates innovative, interactive learning solutions for industry and education to equip people with the skills to master technical systems, solve problems and adapt to a rapidly-changing workplace. They partner with their clients to provide an unmatched learning experience. Their learning solutions are designed and built by employees who are experts in their field, integrating the best practices in education and training to deliver knowledge and skills for real jobs. Their success is defined by an ability to provide these solutions with world-class service and support.

“Amatrol is a home-grown business based right here. They have a global presence and we are hopeful that they will continue to invest in their Jeffersonville operations,” said Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore.

“We couldn't be happier that Amatrol is considering an expansion,” said Wendy Dant Chesser, President and CEO of 1si. “They have been a success story here and around the world – they are one of the innovators in training and manufacturing. We commend Amatrol for the very high level of community support they have given to Jeffersonville and the State of Indiana.”

About Amatrol, Inc.

Amatrol has a rich history beginning in 1964, when Don and Roberta Perkins founded its original parent company, Dynafluid, Inc. Dynafluid was an industrial automation systems manufacturer that designed systems for many Fortune 500 companies including Coca Cola, General Electric, Alcoa, Ford, Chrysler, and others. Amatrol was created as the educational division of Dynafluid to provide training to industrial clients for new technologies like those being implemented in Dynafluid’s systems. Dynafluid was in a unique position to effectively develop training programs for these technologies because its engineers and technicians were thoroughly familiar with the design, application and maintenance of them.

Amatrol, short for Automated Machine Controls, was founded in 1978 as a division and was formally incorporated as a separate company in 1981. Since that time Amatrol has grown significantly, becoming the leading company in its primary market segments
