Competition from Ohio casinos has prompted layoffs at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino in Anderson. Our partners at The Herald Bulletin report 13 workers have received notice following a 3 percent drop in revenue from January to November last year, compared to the same period in 2012. Officials say the drop in business and tough economy were also factors in the decision. Hoosier Park still employes around 1,000.

General Manager of Gaming Jahnae Erpenbach tells the newspaper the affected workers have been offered severance packages or other positions within the company.

They also have the option of receiving outplacement services.
