The 92nd Indianapolis Home Show is underway at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Organizers say the 10-day event is the nation's oldest and will feature more than 900 exhibits. January 24, 2014

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Major General R. Martin Umbarger will take part in the Indianapolis Home Show opening day ribbon cutting ceremony. As the Adjutant General, Maj. Gen. Umbarger leads the Indiana Army and Air National Guard, the Indiana Guard Reserve and state employees.

Friday, Jan. 24 is Hero Day at the Home Show. The ceremony will kick off the 10-day run of the 92nd Indianapolis Home Show with a special ribbon cutting in front of the Home Show's Centerpiece Home.

Fischer Homes is the builder of this year's Centerpiece Home – a fully-constructed, decorated and landscaped home built entirely inside Exposition Hall.

This year, Fischer Homes offers Home Show attendees the opportunity to explore its Marshall home design. With a French Manor elevation, this home has more than 4,100 square feet, excluding the basement. The Marshall design being constructed at the Home Show will have four bedrooms and three and a half baths located on the main two levels of the home.

WHEN: The ribbon cutting takes place TODAY, Friday, January 24 at 11 a.m.

Note: The Show opens at 11 a.m. and runs through Sunday, February 2.

WHERE: Indiana State Fairgrounds Exposition Hall, at the Centerpiece Home

MORE INFO: For Hero Day, all active and retired military, police and fire personnel get free admission.

Also taking part in the opening day ribbon cutting ceremony is featured guest Kevin O'Connor, host of “This Old House,” along with Fischer Homes Division President Brad Kriner and Indianapolis Home Show Manager Laura Groninger.

The Indianapolis Home Show is the nation's oldest and the Midwest's largest home-focused extravaganza with more than 900 exhibits. Now in its 92nd year, the Indianapolis Home Show presented by Xfinity offers thousands of products as well as decorating, construction and remodeling ideas for visitors to gather and compare.

TICKETS: $13 – Adult $3 – Children ages 6-12 FREE – Children 5 and under

SHOW TIMES:

Fridays 1/24, 1/31 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.

Saturdays 1/25, 2/1 10 a.m. – 9 p.m.

Sundays 1/26, 2/2 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Monday-Thursday 1/27 – 1/30 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.
