(Anderson, Ind.) – The City of Anderson is proud to announce another step towards the revitalization of Downtown Anderson. On Friday, December 20, 2013, Episcopal Retirement Homes, Inc. and the City will break ground on an exciting new senior living development that will bring a significant investment into Downtown Anderson. The Model Group will be the developer on the $5.9 million venture that will convert the three upper floors of the five story YMCA building into 30 senior living apartments. The City and State have also provided resources to help bring this project to fruition with tax credits for the developer. The project helps to ensure that the YMCA will continue to serve this community with health and exercise facilities and programs.
Mayor Kevin Smith said, “This project completes the renovation of the YMCA and provides financial stability for ongoing operations and future growth. It will bring additional investment and life back to the downtown streets of Anderson. We are happy that the City can be a small part of such a worthwhile endeavor that will provide high quality housing options for the seniors in our community. We welcome Episcopal Retirement Homes to our community and look forward to its success.”
