Plans Set to Develop Part of Old Hospital Property

Huntingburg, Ind. – An agreement has been reached between Huntingburg Partners, LLC, the current owners of the former St. Joseph’s Hospital property, and Cincinnati-based Miller-Valentine Group, to develop part of the property into senior housing units. Approximately 30,000 square feet of the hospital building, along with additional new construction, will create 45-50 senior living units.
“The City of Huntingburg is excited about this opportunity and is looking forward to working with Miller-Valentine Group,” says Huntingburg Mayor Denny Spinner, “Miller-Valentine has a proven record of providing quality senior housing in Indiana and across the Midwest. This type of development in our community is in demand and will add to the quality of life in Huntingburg.”
He continues, “We want to applaud Huntingburg Partners, LLC for their cooperation and their work to bring this project together and believe this will be an opportunity for them to continue to invest in Huntingburg and meet other health care needs in our community.”
Miller-Valentine Group is applying in November for rental housing tax credits through the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority.
If approved, construction is expected to take place in the fall of 2014, with units available for rent in the fall of 2015.
“The redevelopment of the former hospital property is key to revitalization of the city’s north side, which has been identified as a priority in our Comprehensive Plan,” says Mayor Spinner, “The redevelopment of this site will stabilize the neighborhood, revitalize an underutilized community asset, grow our economic tax base, and offer our residents a quality affordable senior housing option.”
