High School to Hold Technical Career Fair

LEBANON, Ind. – As more and more students trend toward a traditional four year degree career path a wider void is being created across Indiana in technical trade careers. Openings for good paying jobs in the technical and manufacturing sectors are on the rise. As the need for a strong highly skilled labor force grows Lebanon High School is hosting a Career & Technical Fair Wednesday October 16th at the high school.
“Our research and real-life teaching experience shows us there is a great need for young people in the skill trade industry,” says Lebanon High School Principal, Kevin O'Rourke. “Many times students who choose this career path can be working and earning higher pay much quicker than many graduates with bachelor's degrees,” added O'Rourke.
National Construction Workforce, Merritt Contracting and Trinity Safety Group are sponsoring the event where more than 30 Indiana as well as out of state vendors will be set up to answer questions and offer students information about a possible careers. The event is open to all Lebanon and surrounding high school students in Boone, Clinton, Marion and other counties across Indiana. Prizes, including Colt's tickets, will be raffled off during the event which will be held in Lebanon High Schools new large community room.
“This career event is designed for those students who don't want to go on to a traditional post-secondary education but still want a great high paying career doing something they love,” says Lebanon Educator and organizer, Kristen Scott.
