INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Indiana Restaurant and Lodging Association (InRLA) has announced Patrick Tamm as its new President and CEO. The Association's Board of Directors selected Tamm at its recent meeting after a year-long search to fill the position.
Tamm previously served as the government affairs director of the Indiana Restaurant Association and Indiana Hotel & Lodging Association from 2000 to 2004. After his tenure working on the Association's behalf, Tamm went to the law firm, Ice Miller where he represented businesses, trade associations, municipalities and nonprofit organizations in addition to various utilities, technology and professional services firms and their interactions with the state. From there, Tamm moved on to work with former clients in the engineering and construction industries. During this time, Tamm led the explosive growth of Bernardin Lochmueller & Associates in the central Indiana marketplace and an expansion into a multiple state region for Gilbane Building Company, a construction management firm.
“After a nationwide search, Patrick stood out as the prime candidate,” said Phil Ray, general manager of the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown and current InRLA chairman of the board. “He possesses a strong history of leadership and executive management skills while bringing a deep understanding of our issues that will allow him to successfully lead our organization into the future.”
The Indiana Restaurant Association and Indiana Hotel & Lodging Association merged to form the Indiana Restaurant & Lodging Association in January of this year. The Association represents an industry that provides nearly 15 percent of the total employment in the state of Indiana.
This announcement comes as John Livengood is retiring after leading the associations for 23 years. The InRLA will be honoring Livengood and celebrating his contributions to the restaurant and lodging industries at its biennial gala in Indianapolis. Livengood will continue to work with InRLA in a consultant capacity.
“We are excited to have Patrick lead the organization in its public policy efforts,” said John Benjamin, president of operations at Scotty’s Brewhouse and vice chair of InRLA. “He is ideally prepared to assist the industry with the tremendous challenges we face currently and in the future.”
As part of the selection, Tamm has formed Tamm Capital Group, an association management and government affairs company representing InRLA.
The Indiana Restaurant & Lodging Association serves restaurants, hotels and industry-related service companies in Indiana.
