The features include an interactive water fountain flanked by two sculptures: one with a time capsule theme and another representing an enduring flame.
The work is part of one of the "signature" projects of the state-led efforts to commemorate Indiana’s 200th anniversary. Ohio-based MKSK Studios, which has offices in Indianapolis and West Lafayette, is the designer.
The plaza will incorporate several elements using Indiana limestone, including benches, and will have planting beds and trees. MKSK says the design’s purpose is also to "produce safer traffic and pedestrian patterns in the plaza space on the grounds of the within the Indiana Government Center."
The project is set to be complete in September. Statehood Day is December 11th.
